This Year's Model Updates:

More power for the 4.7-liter V8 and three new trim levels (SE, Sport and Overland) are on tap for this year. Also, several important safety and convenience options such as side curtain airbags, power-adjustable pedals, a tire-pressure monitoring system and automatic windshield wipers debut this year.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability.

  • Best choice ive ever made - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought my Jeep about two years ago, I had always wanted a Jeep, and had my pick of what I wanted. It was a great choice, I had a few problems right off the bat, I blame it on the dealership not the car! After I fixed those problems (normal problems that come with buying a 10 year old car) I got to enjoy my Jeep like it should be. I take care of it and it takes care of me. I feel extremely safe in my Jeep and have a lot of fun driving it! With the limited, I feel comfortable inside and love how I look while Im driving it! I couldnt ask for a better car!

  • Gets dirty....Sees Mud....3rd Jeep - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have owned 3 grand Cherokees and I have to say the WJ (99-04) is by far the smoothest I have owned. The ZJ (93- 98) that I owned where nice as well. I recommend to anyone that buys a Grand Cherokee to get the V-8 the difference in MPG is barley noticeable. The I-6 is a good engine but makes noise at idle and doesnt have the snap of the line. The H.O. V-8 is very strong. My current MPG is 16 City 23 Highway. Quadra-drive works great off road and in snow. Off pavement ride is by far the best I have experienced. If you but one take it off road. Will buy a 4th

I have a fully loaded 4.7Ltr High output, I have installed a Magnaflow muffler, Removed the main cat and left on the pre cat, installed a K & N cold air induction system. I am also running Michelin M S radials(E-rated). I am consistently getting 24 MPG. Go figure! the window sticker said 14-19, I have never go below 17 and I drive this machine hard and it it has more power than I care to talk about Best machine have ever had on and off road. loves deep snow. Initial evaluation is superb. Well- built; handles and rides great.

  • Outstanding mountain vehicle - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Theres a reason you see so many JGCs in Colorado. They work well in the city, cruise comfortable on the highway at 90 mph, but they excel off- road. Off-road capabilities place it in an elite class including the Land Cruiser, the Range Rover and G-wagon. I have had mine for a year and have not had a reason to go back to the dealer other than for oil changes, tire rotations, and adding additional skid plates.

  • My First Jeep - I love it! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I always loved the way the Grand Cherokee looked, but was a little nervous about the reliabilty rating. I got a great deal and after over a year Ive had no problems at all. I just love driving it and will definitely buy another next time (except Ill probably spring for the 4WD).

  • Very Satisfied! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My husband and I have been a Jeep family since 1974 and my Dad owned a Willys Jeep. We had a 1974, 1979, 1995, 1998 and then this 2002. This 2002 Overland has been the best Jeep that we have owned. It has 110,000 miles on it and still going. Sorry, but I have not I liked the Jeep product since the 2002 Jeep. Something happened to the back seat. The seat has shrunk. The back seat just isnt comfortable for the passenger. Too much plastic on the dashboard now and no storage area on the dashboard. I feel sad that I need to pick a different product for my next vehicle. Why ruin a perfect vehicle?

  • AWESOME OVERLAND - UPDATE - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Refer to Dave C. review earlier...I now have 68,500 miles on my 02 JGC Overland...original tires, brakes etc...I have not had any work done other than normal oil changes and tire rotation. Ive joined a local Jeep club and have taken the JGC in places I would never take my 4wd Dodge truck. Also took a Colorado trip and at 14k feet, the view is remarkable. Ill never own another SUV.
